Iranian actress Behdokht Valian wins at Italy fest

Behdokht Valian receives Best Actress Award at Italian event for her role in ‘Tattoo’.

Iranian actress Behdokht Valian has received the Best Actress Award at the 37th Sulmona International Film Festival (SIFF) in Italy.

The actress won the award for her appearance in the short film ‘Tattoo’.

Directed by Farhad Delaram, the short film narrates the story of a young girl who has to extend her driving license; but she faces some problems because of her tattoos.

The 15-minute flick, produced in 2019, has previously garnered the Crystal Bear at the 2019 Berline International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany.

It also succeeded to take home the Best Short Film award at the 17th Tirana International Film Festival in Albania which is among the Oscar-qualifying events.

It’s worth mentioning that ‘Tattoo’ has been introduced to the Academy of Motion Pictures to represent Iran at the 2020 Oscars.

Held from 1983, the SIFF provides a platform for international films to compete in a professional environment.

The Festival has always been featured by experimental, avant-garde and artistic screenings, together with previews, meetings with authors and workshops.

The 37th SIFF was held on November 6-9, 2019.
